The article reflects on the development of scientific books in Medieval Iberia, from the middle of the 13th century to the whole 15th. The main focus is put on two pivotal figures, King Alfonso X ‘The Learned’ of Castile and Ramon Llull.The study aims at a better contextualization of their scientific works within their political, ideological and cultural environment; particular attention is given to the dissemination of their books among contemporary society (with special regards to merchants and jurists), as well as the dynamics involved in the process of production and circulation of the manuscripts.
