The technological innovations of the last decade have renewed the worldwide interest for concentrated solar power. These plants are already a consolidated reality and they demonstrated to be reliable, efficient and capable of significant improvements. In the near future solar thermal power could have an extraordinary market growth. This is also confirmed by the increase in the worldwide installed capacity. Unfortunately, the investment and generation costs are rather high so the technology at this stage needs to be supported by economic-financial measures. The aim of this paper is an assessment of the «state of the art» and the penetration of concentrated solar power in the global and Italian energy market.

Abstract
The technological innovations of the last decade have renewed the worldwide interest for concentrated solar power. These plants are already a consolidated reality and they demonstrated to be reliable, efficient and capable of significant improvements. In the near future solar thermal power could have an extraordinary market growth. This is also confirmed by the increase in the worldwide installed capacity. Unfortunately, the investment and generation costs are rather high so the technology at this stage needs to be supported by economic-financial measures. The aim of this paper is an assessment of the «state of the art» and the penetration of concentrated solar power in the global and Italian energy market.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
