The article aims to investigate the role of Italica Gens in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) along the phenomenon of Italian colonization and immigration. After illustrating the origins of this Catholic federation, the text analyses the characteristics of their cultural project of stimulating Italianity in Brazil’s Southern states, especially the activities for developing Italian schools in Rio Grande do Sul in the 1920s. It highlights the profile and role of the Catholic organization’s inspector Cesare Bompard and goes deeper into the dynamics that followed the evolution of the perspective of Italian nationalist Catholicism, facing the process of «Brazilianization» of Italian immigrants.
