The essay deals with the social teachings of Pope Pius XII and their international effects. Even if the Pope did not write an ad hoc social encyclical, he considered the writings by his predecessors (particularly Leo XIII) as pivotal reference-guides for his pastoral and international action. At the same time, Pius XII devoted his efforts to make Catholic Church's social teachings survive the ashes of WWII by a process of continuous adaptation to a world in constant change.
