This preliminary study was performed in the city of Toronto as representative of anthropogenic emissions of mercury related to different industrial activities such as a steelwork, a refinery, and a cement industry. An intensive measurement campaign has been performed during April and May 2006 to investigate the level and the daily trends of gas phase mercury. The measurements were performed by means of an automatic analyzer, based on atomic absorption analysis with Zeeman-effect background correction. The concentrations measured, ranging between 1 and 8 ng/m 3, are discussed in relation with meteo conditions and compared with other data reported in literature.

Abstract
This preliminary study was performed in the city of Toronto as representative of anthropogenic emissions of mercury related to different industrial activities such as a steelwork, a refinery, and a cement industry. An intensive measurement campaign has been performed during April and May 2006 to investigate the level and the daily trends of gas phase mercury. The measurements were performed by means of an automatic analyzer, based on atomic absorption analysis with Zeeman-effect background correction. The concentrations measured, ranging between 1 and 8 ng/m 3, are discussed in relation with meteo conditions and compared with other data reported in literature.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
