The Authors have tried to testify the existence of possible alterations of the lacrimal film (the thin transparent layer that covers the corneal and conjunctival epithelium with lubricating, protective and antimicrobial function) in people particularly exposed to air pollution caused by ultrathin particles. The aim of the present research is to identify if the air ultrathin particulate, besides the already known pathologies of the respiratory tract, is able to alter the lacrimal film someway, altering the already mentioned very delicate functions.

Abstract
