The experience of Castel del Giudice illustrated in this paper, highlighting some features relat-ed to the neo-endogenous rural development paradigm, shows that the success of the initia-tives experienced by the small village of Molise Region would be due to an (casual) overcom-ing of constraints that the endogenous paradigm poses in rural areas characterized by the hard depopulation. The case study, in point of fact, highlights how the action propulsive of local communities on local resources, without the contribution of additional external resources, results lacking com-pared with the objectives, as to its activation remains subordinate to the strategic abilities of local governments. In conclusion, the deepening of the conditions that generated the success of the case has proved a great opportunity to get information on normative addresses, in order to develop more effective approaches to the development of Italian internal rural areas, as those localized in Central and Southern Appennini.
Il caso di Castel del Giudice proposto nel saggio, mostrando diverse caratteristiche riconduci-bili al paradigma dello sviluppo rurale “neo-endogeno”, lascia intuire che il successo delle iniziative sperimentate nel piccolo comune del Molise è attribuibile alla (casuale) capacità di superamento dei limiti che il modello endogeno incontra nelle aree interne caratterizzate da straordinari fenomeni di spopolamento. La sola azione propulsiva delle comunità locali sulle risorse endogene sarebbe stata infatti insufficiente in assenza di altre forze esogene, la cui atti-vazione è tuttavia subordinata alle abilità strategiche dei governi locali. L’approfondimento delle modalità e delle circostanze che hanno generato il successo del caso proposto, costitui-scono quindi una formidabile opportunità per trarre indicazioni normative, al fine di elaborare approcci più efficaci per lo sviluppo delle aree rurali dell’Appennino centro-meridionale.
