Il “Bestiario d’Amore” della Scuola poetica siciliana. Anticipazioni da un glossario del lessico animale (con analisi delle fonti)

In the corpus that we can attribute to the court of Frederic II and its development of Italo-Romance lyric, numerous lemmatic forms refer to what we can call an “animal lexicon”, both real (the swan, the butterfly) and legendary (the phoenix, the unicorn). In order to examine the importance and meaning of this lexicon, the author has begun a glossary that records all attestations of relevant terms. It studies the variations of the lexicon’s use in the textual tradition, analyses the terms etymologically and semantically, and attempts to uncover the main sources used by the poets. This paper introduces the structure of the glossary and comments on its results.

Nel corpus ascrivibile alla Scuola poetica siciliana, la più rilevante esperienza lirica italoromanza delle Origini fiorita per impulso dell’imperatore Federico II, si rinvengono numerosi lemmi riconducibili al lessico animale, reale (cigno, farfalla, ecc.) e favoloso (fenice, unicorno, ecc.). Per studiarne portata e significato, si sta procedendo all’allestimento di un glossario che fornisce tutte le attestazioni, segnalando le varianti individuabili nella tradizione testuale, analizza semanticamente ed etimologicamente i termini e tenta di rintracciare le principali fonti utilizzate dai poeti. Nell’articolo si presenta la struttura del glossario, commentando i risultati ricavati dalla redazione del primo contingente di voci.
