The paper aims to explicate the status of scientific immaturity of the economics of education as science because it focuses the attention on the individual and social benefits of education. However, the current economics of education does not demonstrate the same capacity to propose educational solutions that are effective, efficient, socially practicable and economically sustainable to contrast the critical issues. As a result the economics of education could be consider an educational science only when it will became able to produce solutions to the ineffectiveness and inefficiency of the systems of education introducing in his area of research the pedagogical aspects of the educational project.
