The purpose of this article is to present an interesting case history and suggest a model of cooperation fitting the new guidelines adopted by the MEDA programme. It illustrates an example of scientific and technological cooperation between Egypt and Italy oriented to the achievement of the two following objectives: development of actions for bilateral Egyptian-EU MEDA project; organisation of a regional research and training network on the packaging sector complementary to the EU-Egyptian bilateral project.
