The history of linguistic education has stimulated the attention not only of the schoolars of linguistic studies, but also of the historians of education and schools, who, in particular, have felt the necessity, in their analysis, to adopt different kinds of approaches which interact: from the political-educational approach (with analysis of the ministerial addresses qhich emerge in didactical programmes), to the social-economic one (with regard to the literacy processes), to the plan of the evolution of educational models, and finally -and more recently- to the plan of the "material" of school culture, as considered in the various local contexts. Especially the recent historiographical debate, in the linguistic field as well as in the educational one, has highlighted the necessity of the need to rescue and the use of new and precious sources such as the children's school writings (exercise books, class-works and school diaries), wich are able to open new orizons of knowledge reagrding the devolopment of educational and schooling processes rising from the very heart of school institutions
