Irrespective of the dignostic possibilities of MR systems, we assessed and compared the running costs and amortization of two magnetic resonance systems (0.5 and 1 Tesla) to determine the average cost per examination. Working conditions were deemed ideal under standard technical times. The new Italian health service method of reimbursement per examination based on the assessment of the DRG makes a strategic estimate of resources to be implemented and the costs involved mandatory in order to establish the break-even point. The procedure adopted should be part of the strategic planning of resources which all hospital administrations must do before inviting tenders.

Abstract
Irrespective of the dignostic possibilities of MR systems, we assessed and compared the running costs and amortization of two magnetic resonance systems (0.5 and 1 Tesla) to determine the average cost per examination. Working conditions were deemed ideal under standard technical times. The new Italian health service method of reimbursement per examination based on the assessment of the DRG makes a strategic estimate of resources to be implemented and the costs involved mandatory in order to establish the break-even point. The procedure adopted should be part of the strategic planning of resources which all hospital administrations must do before inviting tenders.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
