This paper examines the relationship between media representations of crime and criminal law legislation. Through the analysis of selected examples drawn from recent legislation, the work shows how cognitive distortions induced by media narratives fuel collective alarms that the legislator translates into normative measures devoid of any quality, serving exclusively symbolic reassurance rather than effective legal protection.
Il contributo esamina il rapporto tra rappresentazione mediatica della criminalità e produzione legislativa in materia penale. Attraverso l'analisi di alcuni tra i molti esempi offerti dalla legislazione recente, il lavoro mostra come le distorsioni cognitive indotte dalla narrazione mediatica alimentino allarmi collettivi che il legislatore trasforma in interventi normativi senza (alcuna) qualità, funzionali esclusivamente alla rassicurazione simbolica e non certo alla effettività della tutela.
