The paper examines the evolution of employment protection models in complex patterns of business organizations and supply chains. The prohibition of labour supply, joint-employment, equality of treatment and joint-liability are taken into account. A particular weight is placed on the new model of human rights due diligence which is gradual-ly expanding in the European Union. The authors underline shortfalls and opportunities in these different forms of protection. Notably, it is argued that the progressive erosion of the joint-liability model and the trend towards a prevention orientated risk approach might lead to undermine one of the main scope of legal systems; namely, providing the employees the access to justice and to effective remedies.

Abstract
The paper examines the evolution of employment protection models in complex patterns of business organizations and supply chains. The prohibition of labour supply, joint-employment, equality of treatment and joint-liability are taken into account. A particular weight is placed on the new model of human rights due diligence which is gradual-ly expanding in the European Union. The authors underline shortfalls and opportunities in these different forms of protection. Notably, it is argued that the progressive erosion of the joint-liability model and the trend towards a prevention orientated risk approach might lead to undermine one of the main scope of legal systems; namely, providing the employees the access to justice and to effective remedies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
