So far, standardization of pyrolytic techniques for quantification of microplastics using pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry are still far from being optimized. The pyrolysis temperatures used vary for different polymers. However, it was found that the same polymer is analyzed using different pyrolysis temperatures. Moreover, even if the Py-GC-MS would seem to be the most suitable technological approach to the simultaneous determination of more polymers, the interactions that occur between polymers during pyrolysis are still little investigated.
