It’s noteworthy that two recently published inscriptions datable to the age of the Emperor Julian can confirm his social policy: one describes a cursus with a position such as the defensor pauperum, not attested elsewhere and which can be thought dedicated to social purposes, the other refers to a building intended for the puellae Faustinianae, so using an expression referred to that old aid institution. These testimonies are confirmed above all by some Christian sources and, not directly, some letters of Julian touch on the subject.

Abstract
It’s noteworthy that two recently published inscriptions datable to the age of the Emperor Julian can confirm his social policy: one describes a cursus with a position such as the defensor pauperum, not attested elsewhere and which can be thought dedicated to social purposes, the other refers to a building intended for the puellae Faustinianae, so using an expression referred to that old aid institution. These testimonies are confirmed above all by some Christian sources and, not directly, some letters of Julian touch on the subject.File in questo prodotto:
