This article focuses on the assumptions, meaning, and distinctive features of von Bogdandy's "European Hegelianism," exploring both its methodological aspects (§ 1) and its core content (§ 2). The dual purpose is to enhance the understanding of certain theses in the book, especially for readers who may not be as acquainted with Hegel's philosophy of law as von Bogdandy, and to frame his position in the contemporary philosophical-political debate on the nature of the European Union, with particular reference to convergences and divergences with Jürgen Habermas (§ 3).
