The article examines "Food Sovereignty" according to its original configuration and still valid. We analyze the channels for its (possible) implementation in today's legal and social landscape which has recently welcomed and promoted a vision of Food Sovereignty distant from the one elaborated in 1996 by Via Campesina. Attention is focused on the role of local communities, to which the promotion of differentiated and alternative agricultural models to those practiced is attributed, which can make a substantial contribution to the realization of Food Sovereignty also in the our country as well as on the potential of peasant agriculture which is struggling to have full legal recognition. Today's agriculture needs to be (re)calibrated on production paradigms different from those practiced up to now and on models of access to resources (land, water, seeds, food, etc.) that are an effective and shared expression of the choices of farmers and consumers in respect of the characteristics of the ecosystems that host them and of the varied methods of access to food widespread and consolidated in every part of the world. The idea of Food Sovereignty which is spreading, centered on the function, certainly not secondary, of food self-sufficiency, differs from that advocated by the various agricultural organizations operating in the numerous rural realities of the world which promote and fight for the affirmation of production parameters distant from those currently in force but often more dynamic and sustainable.

Viene esaminata la “Sovranità alimentare” secondo quella che è stata la sua configurazione originaria e tuttora valida. Si analizzano i canali per la sua (possibile) attuazione nell’odierno panorama giuridico e sociale che ha, di recente, accolto e promosso una visione di Sovranità alimentare distante da quella elaborata nel 1996 da Via Campesina. Si focalizza l’attenzione sul ruolo delle comunità locali, alle quali viene attribuita la promozione di modelli agricoli differenziati ed alternativi a quelli praticati, che possono dare un contributo sostanziale alla realizzazione della Sovranità alimentare anche nel nostro paese nonché sulle potenzialità di un’agricoltura contadina che stenta ad avere un completo riconoscimento giuridico. L’agricoltura odierna necessita di essere (ri)calibrata su paradigmi produttivi diversi da quelli finora praticati e su modelli di accesso alle risorse (terra, acqua, semi, cibo, etc.) che siano espressione effettiva e condivisa delle scelte degli agricoltori e dei consumatori nel rispetto dei connotati propri degli ecosistemi che li ospitano e delle variegate modalità di accesso al cibo diffuse e consolidate in ogni parte del mondo. L’idea di Sovranità alimentare che si va diffondendo, centrata sulla funzione, certo non secondaria, dell’autosufficienza alimentare, si discosta da quella sostenuta dalle varie organizzazioni agricole operanti nelle numerose realtà rurali del mondo che promuovono e lottano per l’affermazione di parametri produttivi distanti da quelli attualmente vigenti ma spesso più dinamici e sostenibili.

Abstract
