Abstract

Theatrical texts have received little attention in studies of Latin poetic language, although scholars have always recognised that Republican tragedy played an important role in the development of a language with characteristics different from those of literary prose. The aim of this work is to examine some passages from tragedy and, above all, from comedy, in which certain characteristics of poetic language appear that deserve to be highlighted and discussed.
