The relations between the Republic of Genoa and the Spanish monarchy in the early modern age continue to be the focus of many researches and studies. They have highlighted, in particular, the leading role played by the noble Genoese families in the economic and financial activities of the Monarquía between the 16th and 17th centuries. The paper presents the main topics and some reflections about one of the most interesting results of recent years on these issues, the book on the Serra family by Yasmina Rocio Ben Yessef Garfia, Los Serra entre la República de Génova y la Monarquía Hispánica.
