Storia di genere e storia delle donne. Gli orientamenti della ricerca negli ultimi anni

Starting from some key concepts recurring in the theoretical debate on the issues of gender history, the contribution presents a survey of the most recent trends in studies on the history of women in the context of Italian modernistics. We can see how the history of women has gone from time to time to intertwine with themes that favor interests in religious history, cultural and economic-social history. Of great impact was in particular the line of new studies and research dedicated to the exercise of ‘informal’ powers by women in the space of the courts, in the forms of patronage and cultural consumption, in the management of family assets and fiefdoms, that is, in the sphere of the so-called hidden powers - soft power - a category borrowed from the social sciences which has proved to be very useful in defining the different declinations of power in the history of gender.

Partendo da alcuni concetti chiave ricorrenti nel dibattito teorico sui temi della gender history, il contributo presenta una ricognizione sugli orientamenti più recenti negli studi sulla storia delle donne nell’ambito della modernistica italiana. Si riscontra come la storia delle donne è andata volta a volta a intrecciarsi con temi che privilegiano interessi per la storia religiosa, la storia culturale ed economicosociale. Di grande impatto è stato in particolare il filone di nuovi studi e ricerche dedicati all’esercizio dei poteri ‘informali’ da parte delle donne nello spazio delle corti, nelle forme del mecenatismo e dei consumi culturali, nella gestione dei patrimoni familiari e dei feudi, nell’ambito cioè dei cosiddetti poteri sotto traccia - i soft power - categoria mutuata dalle scienze sociali che si è rivelata assai utile a definire le diverse declinazioni del potere nella storia di genere.
