In this chapter, I attempt to highlight the methodological potential of Boudon’s approach, comparing it with some of the most important contributions to twentieth-century social philosophy: i.e. Ch. Perelman’s theory of argumentation, K. Popper’s and H. Albert’s critical rationalism, L. von Mises’ theory of rationality, and W. Dray’s philosophy of action.
