WE-STAY is a mental health promoting programme for adolescents in European schools, financed by VII European Framework. The main objectives are: • promote understanding of issues related to absenteeism from school • identify valid models of health promotion for adolescents. WE-STAY is developed by a consortium of 10 European countries: Estonia, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Hungary. The study design involves recruitment of 9600 subjects from the following countries: Estonia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Romania and Spain (1600 for center) and proposes to implement and evaluate outcomes of three different kind of interventions. Each program is based on a different approach to mental health promotion, involving the activities of key players such as mental health professionals, teachers and adolescents themselves.
