Tessellated models are more and more used in several engineering fields. The need to use such models to quickly perform computer simulations implies the use of dedicated software, allowing to solve, into an integrated environment, multiphysics problems. In the present work, Comsol Multiphysics® 3.5a has been used and its ability to handle tessellated models has been highlighted. Some limits have been pointed out and to overcome them, a general procedure, fully-implemented in MatLAB®, has been proposed. Finally, two case studies have been analyzed showing how the proposed MatLAB-based tool, linked to Comsol Multiphysics®, works.

Abstract
Tessellated models are more and more used in several engineering fields. The need to use such models to quickly perform computer simulations implies the use of dedicated software, allowing to solve, into an integrated environment, multiphysics problems. In the present work, Comsol Multiphysics® 3.5a has been used and its ability to handle tessellated models has been highlighted. Some limits have been pointed out and to overcome them, a general procedure, fully-implemented in MatLAB®, has been proposed. Finally, two case studies have been analyzed showing how the proposed MatLAB-based tool, linked to Comsol Multiphysics®, works.File in questo prodotto:
