The Authors propose some reflections on the relationship between the Socellii and the area of Pietrabbondante (IS), where it was located their famous family burial monument from the second half of the 1st century BC. The hypothesis of a continuous reading of the link between the gens and the Sannio Pentro will be discussed, suggesting rather, thanks to a comparison with further epigraphic material from neighbouring areas, the possibility of an exogenous family origin.

Abstract
The Authors propose some reflections on the relationship between the Socellii and the area of Pietrabbondante (IS), where it was located their famous family burial monument from the second half of the 1st century BC. The hypothesis of a continuous reading of the link between the gens and the Sannio Pentro will be discussed, suggesting rather, thanks to a comparison with further epigraphic material from neighbouring areas, the possibility of an exogenous family origin.File in questo prodotto:
