The study aims to compare the old and new data on the Roman kitchen ware evident in the contexts from the middle republican to the imperial age (III Century B.C.-III Century A.D.) in Campania by comparing the different areas of production and circulation. Particular attention will be paid to any differences between the patterns of production and distribution of the coastal cities and inland towns. The new data come from the available quantitative and typological contexts recently excavated and studied from Phlegreans fields area (Puteoli, Liternum, Baiae) and inland Campania (Compsa and Allifae) where local workshops have been discovered. It’s interesting to note that these workshops produce utilitarian pottery connected with local tradition, even in Imperial times. The second part will focus instead on long-range imports certified in Campania, primarily from Africa, from the end of the first century and then by Greece from the East, etc. The study also proposes to create specific typologies for each production documented in the studied area.
