This issue of ‘Memorie Geografiche’ brings together contributions from both the Workshop ‘ Middle Mountains: territorial systems and co-evolutionary dynamics’ organised by the Society for Geographical Studies and the University of Molise, and the Research Project of National Interest (Prin) ‘MIND - Mountains INsiDe the mountain’, of which the Agnone Workshop was an important stage. Seizing an exceptional opportunity for synergy, the volume focuses on the theme of the ‘mountains in the middle’ and seeks to compare consolidated and innovative approaches to terrain research, an area in which the social and political legitimacy of the social sciences and Geography in particular is continually being redefined. The large number of participants in the Workshop and in this volume from young researchers, working in the non-strictly disciplinary sphere but more generally in the sphere of territorial sciences, and from teachers of various generations and backgrounds testifies to the interest encountered not only in the topic addressed but also in rethinking and re-proposing field research and related methods as indispensable tools in the toolbox of geographical investigation.

Abstract
The large number of participants in the Workshop and in this volume from young researchers, working in the non-strictly disciplinary sphere but more generally in the sphere of territorial sciences, and from teachers of various generations and backgrounds testifies to the interest encountered not only in the topic addressed but also in rethinking and re-proposing field research and related methods as indispensable tools in the toolbox of geographical investigation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
