The disconnect between Venice and the Veneto Region finds its roots in the historical geography of the area. After the separate evolution of the two Venetiae during the Middleage, the Venetian Regional State projected a Venice-centred archipelago logic on the Mainland, which should be considered today not only to explain the disconnect between the Region and its Capital city, but especially in view of the upcoming birth of a “Metropolitan Venice”.
