The Birra Peroni factory, founded at the beginning of the twentieth century in the Salario district of Rome, is one of the best known of the architectural works designed by Gustavo Giovannoni and is the only his experience who can fall into the specialized field of design for industrial plants. The Peroni Brewery plant built in via Alessandria in 1913 is also the first reinforced concrete architecture of the entire industrial complex, but generally its construction is associated with the technological application of the Hennebique system and the activity of the Porcheddu Company, which was the main Italian agency of the famous French company. This essay intends to offer a critical reflection on the practices of use of the reinforced concrete system in the Peroni plant and on the main role of the Ferrobeton company and its Weyss & Freitag system in the history of this factory.
