The carbonaceous material sources in the atmosphere are related to natural and anthropogenic activities. The natural sources are volcanic eruptions, fres, stone erosions, long-range particulate mass transport, etc. while the anthropogenic sources are mostly the combustion process, industry and domestic heating. In this paper we present TC, EC and OC concentrations in an urban area and we discuss the influence of the meteorological conditions on the temporal-spatial distributions of the aerosol concentrations. The EC and OC concentration trends are compared with the CO trends, a specific indicator of autovehicular traffic, for identifying the primary and secondary formation of TC.
