Two phycobiliproteins, C-Phycocianin (C-PC) and Allophycocinin (APC), can be isolated as pure compounds from Spirulina platensis using either an optimized LPLC method or a novel HPLC method. The time required for HPLC isolation (34 min) or analysis (25 min) is much shorter than for LPLC (310 min). On average, recoveries from the natural or commercial product are 10 times greater than reported in literature.

Abstract
