Abstract

The paper reconstructs the evolution, from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, of the main residence of the Roman family Muti Papazzurri (whose archive was discovered by the author in Forlì): the so-called "casa grande" in Piazza dei Santi Apostoli. The history of this building is also considered in relation to the transformation of its urban context, that is the southern part of the rione Trevi. By presenting many new documents, the author can also show that Carlo Fontana, Giovanni Antonio De Rossi and Francesco Bizzaccheri worked in various occasions for the Muti Papazzurri family.
