The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of combined GnRH - PGF2a and PGF2a – FGA short term (5 d) treatments to synchronize estrus in goat during the breeding season. A total of seventy two multiparous and dry Ionica goats were subdivided into three experimental groups (N= 14 ): Group 1 – the females received intramuscular injection (i.m.) of GnRH (Fertagyl, 100 mg, d 0) and 5 d later i.m. PGF2a analogue (cloprostenol 100 mg) and eCG (400 IU). The females in Group 2 were treated with 40 mg fluorogestone acetate in vaginal sponges for 5 days, 100 mg i.m. PGF2a at sponge insertion and eCG (400 IU, i.m.) at sponge withdrawal. The females in Group 3, as control, were treated with FGA (40 mg) for 11 days, PGF2a (50 mg) at seventh day, and eCG (400 IU) at sponge withdrawal. Goats were checked for estrus three days after the last treatment every 12 h with the aid of aproned bucks. The female:male ratio was 6:1 during mating. Oestrus response, fertility and prolificacy were 55.0%, 35.0% and 128.6%; 86.4%, 59.4% and 138.5%; 75.0%, 58.3% and 164.3% in the Group 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Therefore, PGF2a - FGA short treatment (Group 2) as been found to be efficient to synchronize oestrus in goats

Abstract
Therefore, PGF2a - FGA short treatment (Group 2) as been found to be efficient to synchronize oestrus in goatsI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
