Turismo culturale e identità locale. Riconsiderando il ruolo del paesaggio

The perception of cultural heritage as a resource can be nurtured in the context of two distinct perspectives: on the one hand, endo-centered perspective, in the sense that cultural heritage is considered a resource for the enjoyment of the local community; on the other hand, exo-centered perspective, in the sense that it is considered a resource for tourism development. The paper will discuss the opportunities and the real possibilities of synergy between the two perspectives. After a brief overview on the role of cultural tourism in Italy, the relationship between tourism and local culture is dealt with, highlighting the risks of conflict but also the opportunities to put the places at the heart of a new policy for tourism development which also means territorial development as a whole. The author's thesis is that the landscape, as a form of balance between past and present and a meeting ground between the inhabitants and tourists, can now have a new role as a catalyst of attention in research and in-depth understanding of local vocations and the authentic roots of places.

La percezione del bene culturale come risorsa può essere nutrita nel contesto di due distinte prospettive: da un lato, una prospettiva endo-centrata, nel senso che il bene culturale è considerato una risorsa destinata alla fruizione della comunità locale; dall’altro lato, una prospettiva eso-centrata, nel senso che il bene culturale è considerato una risorsa per lo sviluppo del turismo. Il contributo intende discutere l’opportunità e le concrete possibilità di sinergia tra le due prospettive. Dopo un breve quadro sul ruolo del turismo culturale in Italia, viene affrontato il tema del rapporto fra turismo e cultura locale, evidenziandone i rischi di conflittualità ma anche e soprattutto le opportunità per rimettere i luoghi al centro di una nuova politica volta ad uno sviluppo turistico che significhi anche sviluppo territoriale nel suo complesso. La tesi dell'autore è che il paesaggio, in quanto forma di equilibrio fra passato e presente e terreno d’incontro fra abitanti e turisti, può avere oggi un nuovo ruolo come catalizzatore dell’attenzione nella ricerca e nella comprensione profonda delle vocazioni territoriali e delle radici autentiche dei luoghi.
